A word war (also called word sprint, or simply war or sprint) is a short timed challenge in which Wrimos write as much as they can in a short period. These challenges may be conducted with other writers on the NaNoWriMo forums, at a write-in, in chat rooms, or via Twitter.
So.
If we get active participation here, we can do word wars. I will try to be on here during the day from time to time to encourage word wars.
To start a word war, simply post proposed start and end time.
So if you want to write for 10 minutes, announce that you will be writing from 9:15 to 9:25 and any one on the forum at the time, can join in with you. At the end of the ten minutes, share how many words you wrote.
Another good way to do word wars is to set up a standard time. For example.
"I'm going to write starting on the hour and half for 15 minutes. I will be doing this between 8:00 pm till 11:00 pm tomorrow night." So every one who can join in will write for 15 minutes on the hour and the half hour. You don't have to do all the sprints, but try to do one and post your word count.
